On night four of her “Underdressed at the Symphony” tour, Faye Webster made her way from Houston, Texas all the way up to Louisville, Kentucky to play a nearly sold-out show at Old Forester’s Paristown Hall on Sunday evening. The venue was completely packed full of very excited fans, buzzing with anticipation as they waited for Webster to grace the stage.
Accompanying Webster on this tour is Japanese indie pop artist, Mei Ehara. Initially, I had not been familiarized with her music, but was immediately immersed within the first minute. Ehara’s performance was simply a breathtaking introduction, and what I’d imagine stepping into a dreamscape would feel like. With just her and her guitar, she immediately captivated the audience as her ethereal vocals echoed through the venue hall.

Shortly after Ehara’s set, it was time for Faye to make her appearance. Fans were greeted with a large projection of a minion from Despicable Me with Faye’s signature shag haircut, singing one of her most notable songs, “But Not Kiss”. Soon after, Webster had taken the stage and kicked off her set with a minion-less version of “But Not Kiss”, with hundreds of fans singing along. Fans continued to erupt in excitement as she progressed through the setlist, more notably during “Right Side of My Neck”, which fans were met with thousands of bubbles blowing from the stage.
Faye has a way of pulling you into her world, where every lyric feels like a glimpse into an inner diary you didn’t know you needed to read. What really made this performance shine bright was her pure fluidity, as if she was floating between genres, blending indie, folk, and a touch of R&B.
Webster definitely left her impact on Louisville on Sunday, and we await for her return in the upcoming years.
