Man, is there anything better than Bloodywood? I doubt it. Bloodywood is one of the bands I can say that I have been a “day one” fan of, as I remember coming across their music years ago while scrolling social media. Ever since then, I have been invested and listened to every release the band has put out. Seeing Bloodywood climb the metal-scene ladder and become a genre trailblazer has been rewarding in its own right. The evidence is in their success as they have played multiple festivals throughout the world, have had wildly successful tours, and are encroaching on nearly a million monthly listeners on Spotify. One could argue that their music transcends language barriers and borders, and I know I am not alone in that sentiment because vocalist Jayant Bhadula states:
We could not believe how much the band means to the fans. They bring flags to the show, get our lyrics tattooed, give us personalised gifts and most importantly share the hell out of our music. We are blessed to have such great supporters that not only do they connect with the music, but they also become one with it. They may not understand all the languages we sing in, but we feel their passion as they sing those words along with us.
The band is gearing up to release their newest album, Nu Delhi, on March 21st, and I would guarantee that this release will catapult the band into even more success. When speaking about the musical content of the band, vocalist Raoul Kerr mentions:
We are trying to push the limits of the impact that music can have on the world. Whether it is the battles within or the fight for a better world, our sound is meant to bring everyone together and win.
Building off of Bhadula and Kerr, this new album absolutely encapsulates what they are saying. The entire album, from start to finish, has me head-banging and downloading Duolingo to learn Hindi so I can sing along better to the songs. From anthemic ballads like “Hutt” to a nu-metal sounding ass-beater of a track like “Dhadak” or “Tadka,” there is a song on the album for every type of fan. Do I even need to explain how much of a banger the song “Bekhauf” is with that BABYMETAL feature? It truly showcases the band’s ability to masterfully blend all the best concepts of different genres while keeping things familiar and fresh.
I do not know a lot of things, but there are a few things I am certain of. Nu Delhi is sure to be the album release of the year, and I doubt that any band will ever be able to encapsulate what they are able to produce musically.
