On 04/02/2025, Chelsea Grin visited The Underground in Charlotte, NC to play the first of five sold-out shows in a row for their North American tour. Accompanying them on stage were the following heavy hitters: Shadow of Intent, Signs of the Swarm, and Disembodied Tyrant.

Disembodied Tyrant kicked off the night with an explosive start, starting off their set with their new single, "8.6 BLACKOUT". Seeing this act in a live setting is truly a treat! All of the musicians are extremely talented and impressive performers. They really know how to command the stage and are able to keep the audience fully captivated. Despite frontman Blake Mullens being sick, he still sounded monstrous! The rest of their set consisted of the following songs: "Aberrant Waltz", "Malphasian", "The Poetic Edda", and my personal favorite, "Winter". Every time I see Disembodied Tyrant perform, I am always incredibly impressed; they never disappoint! Their mix is clean, their stage presence is a perfect match for the music, and they always leave a long lasting impression. After seeing them live, I always listen to them on the way home.

Signs of the Swarm took the stage next, and the crowd went CRAZY. Immediately, the precious anteater-faced vocalist, David Simonich demanded the crowd to move, and move they did! There were crowd-surfers out the ying-yang, and the pit was spinning throughout the whole night. Signs of the Swarm has a beautiful mix of disgusting, groovy, and catchy songs. I was excited to hear a good amount of songs from their recent album, Amongst the Low and Empty, especially the title track and "Tower of Torsos". The rest of their set consisted of songs such as "Hymns Ov Invocation", "IWONTLETYOUDIE", "Natural Selection", "Pray For Death", and "Borrowed Time".

Next up was Shadow of Intent. In all honesty, I was not really sure what to expect from them live. I know I have seen them perform before, but I am not very familiar with their music. Their set was very interesting though! The sound was booming with bass/low end. Every 808 was disgustingly powerful! I enjoyed seeing them perform overall. The set was lengthy, consisting of nine songs, one of which being a new song! The crowd did not hold back their excitement for their set at all.

Last, but not least, Chelsea Grin took the stage. Despite going crazy for the entire show, the crowd did not hold back for Chelsea Grin. The crowd-surfers were still going strong for their whole set, and everyone was bouncing on it crazy-style. Additionally, it was interesting to see vocalist Tom Barber pull a couple on stage for a proposal in the middle of the set. Watching them perform, you can tell these guys love the music and have a lot of fun performing it. David Simonich from Signs of the Swarm even joined them on stage for "Dead Rose".

Their set was also quite lengthy, consisting of fifteen songs! They had a wonderful mix of songs spanning from their entire discography. By the end of their set, I had a newfound respect for the musicians in Chelsea Grin and I would definitely enjoy seeing them live again!
