Indie legends Circa Waves are back on the road, celebrating the Death & Love Pt. 1 album, which had only been out a couple of weeks when the tour commenced. I was lucky enough to capture night two of the tour at a sold-out Nottingham Rock City!
The tour sees Peace (Worcester) and Corella (Manchester) joining them on the road, and the crowd seemed to love both bands, with plenty of their own fans in attendance.
Corella started the show, showcasing their Manchester heritage and pedigree. They really got the crowd going, cramming as much music as they could into their 30-minute set! I have a feeling they’ll be back out on tour before too long with their own headline shows, giving them a chance to show off even more of what they have to offer.
Next up, and despite an unforeseen situation leaving them without their bassist, was Peace. With some clever thinking and quick programming, their set was able to go ahead. Despite telling us they had no time to rehearse in this new setup, if they hadn’t mentioned it, I doubt anybody would have even noticed.
Both bands fit the vibe of the night so well, and while they were new artists to me, they felt familiar—like the perfect support acts for this tour.
Finally, the crowd got what they had been waiting for—Circa Waves took the stage, opening with "Do You Wanna Talk" before treating the audience to one of the tracks from the new album. Sometimes, when a band is touring in support of a new record, fans can be apprehensive about not hearing their favorite songs, but that’s not a worry on this tour! Circa Waves seamlessly blended new tracks with hits from almost their entire back catalogue, ensuring a setlist that kept everyone engaged.
With plenty of dates still left on the tour, whether you’re already a Circa Waves fan or just a lover of indie music in general, grab yourself a ticket—you won’t regret it!
