Debt Neglector have released their new album, Kinda Rips, and well… it kinda rips. The Florida-based punk bands have been working on their sound for close to a decade and it is apparent that the band can’t do any wrong. Debt Neglector have perfected a sound that is new, fresh, and exciting while somehow sounding exactly what I’d imagine the Vans Warped Tour sounded like in the early 2000’s. You can tell the influence from iconic punk bands like Bad Religion, Descendents, and Dillinger Four is apparent in Debt Neglector, with the utmost respect for the genre, and I am here for it.

Kinda Rips has it all from fun riffs to catchy lyrics to drumming that makes you want to two-step in a parking lot during a hot summer morning. I’ve listened to the album over and over all day and still can’t decide on a favorite track. If I had to pick one, it would have to be “Apocalypse Soon” for the feelings that it gives me. Not only is it musically amazing, but the lyrics are leading me to go back and play the track over and over again because I feel like I keep discovering a new favorite line. Not impressed? Well, how about “Right To Remain Violent”? Give it a listen and tell me it is not a certified banger.
Debt Neglector couldn’t have released a more powerful and impressive album if they tried. With lyrics discussing the fear of war, distrust in the government, loss, depression, illness, and gun control, it would not surprise me if this album empowers a new generation to take a stand and fight for what they believe in. I don’t think a simple “thank you” does enough justice to the impact that this album is going to have on the future generation of kids.
