As Miami Art Week kicks off, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dro Kenji to Miami Beach, Florida, for a rare and unforgettable pop-up performance. Hot off the heels of his two latest singles, "Evil Twin" and "Heartless," Dro Kenji has become a staple of what some call "emo rap." I have been a massive fan of Kenji's music for about 3 years now, and his melodic tunes and vulnerable lyrics have become a big part of my early 20's. With Kenji finally making his way back over to Florida, others and I were bustling with excitement as we entered the venue.

Talent from all over the country kicked off the night. Artists such as BFromTheBando, B.U.G Antman, FalseCris, Alex Irish, and DoubleCupOso took the stage by storm, and the audience could not get enough. Each one of these underground hip-hop giants had the crowd jumping and screaming with each set. The talent I observed from these individuals was captivating. These rockstars in the making deserve all their flowers.

Finally, Dro Kenji took the stage to perform his hit song "THROW UP" from his latest album, "WISH YOU WERE HERE." This is one of my favorite songs from Kenji, so I was super hyped to hear it live, and I wasn't the only one. The crowd was electrified as they jumped up and down and sang each lyric word for word. Continuing his set, Kenji performed fan-favorite classics such as "OVER & OVER", "THEY DON'T KNOW", and "VANISH". The raw emotion Kenji displayed in these tracks is incredibly captivating. The way he can turn melodic, melancholy bars into hard-hitting mosh pits is something that very few artists can pull off. The fun didn't end there, as Kenji announced he had a special surprise for fans in attendance to end off the night. Performing his unreleased track "AMSTERDAM" (set to release on December 13th, 2024), Kenji shocked the crowd and set them into motion. I think this track is some of Kenji's best work to date, and I'll be counting down the days till its release.

Dro Kenji is one of those once-in-a-lifetime artists that I feel creates music that can resonate with anyone. We highly recommend giving his latest album, "WISH YOU WERE HERE," a listen. Although Dro Kenji is not currently on tour, we recommend following him on all socials (@drokenji) to stay up-to-date on future show announcements! If you spot a Dro Kenji show announcement in your area, run and get those tickets while they last.

A special thank you to AMG for putting on this wonderful show.
