Face Yourself is starting 2025 with a huge bang. From releasing a new single, “Sideration,” with an accompanying music video and signing to Sumerian Records, it should be nothing short of shocking when the band continues to explode and top the heavy music scene. Even though the band only got their start back in 2023, the band has already released three EPs of astronomical proportions.

This newest single is sure to set the stage for the future of the band’s sound. And how to describe that sound is a mystery to me. Containing influences from across the United States and France, Face Yourself has that classic deathcore sound while mixing in a breath of fresh air with their breakdowns, riffs, and blast beats. Do not even get me started on the vocals. From blistering highs to deafening gutturals, it seems that vocalist Yasmine Liverneaux can do it all!

I am trying to pick a favorite part of the new single, but I do not think I have had such a challenge before with a track. It is like a 3-minute breakdown, and I keep on playing it over and over again. If I had to pick just one part, it would have to be the first breakdown that evolves into some sort of prog-metal type of magic. It truly is an incredible single. When speaking about the new single, the band had this to say:

"Sideration" is both a gateway and a foreshadowing of what’s to come. This track encapsulates everything Face Yourself stands for—Yasmine screaming her heart out, blast beats, aggressive guitars, and a breakdown that’s as crushing as it is cathartic. Thematically, the song explores the dreamlike state your mind creates to shield you from violent events, and the fight to wake up and reclaim control. It's about being half awake through this dream, trying to find your way out reflected in the lyrics at the beginning "trying to catch the light", and at the end of the song "I now see the light."
