Nesdam, or Patrick Madsen for his friends, is gearing up to release their debut album, Find The Truth (set to release on January 17th, 2025), and it is sure to set the bar high for the beginning of the year. With a handful of singles already released, Nesdam is proving himself to be a force in the heavy music scene. Music Scene Media was fortunate enough to get a chance to speak with Nesdam and learn about him as an artist. If after reading this interview and giving his music a listen, you are thinking to yourself, "Oh my God, I need to get a copy of this as soon as possible," you're in luck because pre-order is available here.

Tell me about your journey with creating music. How did you get started, and what first ignited your passion for music?

N: My next door neighbor let me play his drum set which immediately sparked an excitement in me I never felt before which led to years of studying the craft. Then, I proceeded to learn guitar and hone in on vocals thus molding myself into a well rounded musician. That transferred into  doing the drums and vocals on the NESDAM record.

Your lyrics often touch on deeply personal experiences and emotions. How do you go about writing about such personal topics, and how do you balance being vulnerable with maintaining a sense of privacy?

N: It’s easy to write about the hard things you had to experience. Writing about them and singing, even screaming them out, is highly therapeutic. It becomes easier over time but is extremely hard in the beginning. I have become comfortable with the discomfort.

Your songs are raw, honest, and real. Do you feel that maintaining this has helped you connect more with your fanbase? What has the reaction been like from fans?

N: Yes absolutely, authenticity is everything these days and it’s reflected everyday in the engagement.

How would you describe your latest single release, “PLASTIC CROWN”?

N: INTENSELY DYNAMIC.

Your music defies easy categorization, blending elements of different genres and styles. How do you approach genre and style when writing and recording music?

N: I stopped writing for what I thought people liked and started writing what I liked. We can get so caught up in keeping it radio that we lose a lot of the character.

Who are some of your biggest musical influences, and how have they helped to shape your sound?

N: This is a real list. Creed. TUPAC. Dave Matthew’s Band. All That Remains. Incubus. Rise Against. Logic. Staind. Sum 41. Post Malone. Killswitch Engage.

How do you keep your music fresh and relevant in an ever-changing industry?

N: Write the vocals first.

What do you attribute most to your success?

N: God. 110% I should be dead but I’m here.

How do you stay inspired and creative, especially when facing writer's block?

N: Complete focus on something else and come back to it later.

Are there any up-and-coming artists in the Ohio music scene that you’d like to give a shout-out to?

N: Not up and coming by any means, but, HI, BEARTOOTH!

Lastly, is there anything else that you’d like to share with your fans?

N: Find The Truth 1/17/25 preorder at NesdamMusic.com.
