From Ashes To New brings the “Still Panicking” Tour to Montage Music Hall in Rochester, NY on 4-15-2022

This concert was From Ashes To New‘s (FATN) second to last stop on the tour. I was really looking forward to this show, as Rochester, NY is singer Danny Case’s hometown. I had the opportunity to see Danny perform at a local outdoor show back in 2009 with his then newly formed band Vanity Strikes. It has truly been full circle! With tour buses lined up in front of the venue, fans waiting in line were treated to something special and unique. From their bus, Danny was dropping treats from a window, like cookies, fruit and even a ten dollar bill, to eager young fans. It was really a cool moment to see this fan interaction and foreshadowed what was yet to come!

Fire From The Gods

Supporting act Fire From The Gods (FFTG) brought the heat. The Austin,Texas based band played a ten song set with emotion and intensity. Drawing from three albums (Narrative,Narrative Retold and American Sun) they played five singles including the powerhouse “Right Now”. This show had a very cool vibe from the start. Front-man AJ Channel shared that his family was at the show tonight. There was a driving message throughout the show about “we” are responsible for change and how important children are for the future. He also gave recognition to First Responders and Military personnel which was a nice touch. With fist bumping and plenty of crowd interaction this performance had a very personal feeling to it,like we are all family. FFTG gave us all a damn good show!

FFTG are: AJ Channel – vocals, Drew Walker – guitar, Jameson Teat – guitar, Bonner Baker – bass and Richard Wicander – drums

From Ashes To New

After a very short intermission,(hats off to the crew), Lancaster, Pa based From Ashes To New (FATN) took the stage to a frenzied roar of the crowd. It was singer’s Danny Case’s hometown appearance and fans certainly showed their support for him and the band. As I said before, this show had a different vibe to it, a very cool and magical feeling. All I can say is the evening was a lot of fun! FATN performed a commanding fifteen song performance. Drawing music from three albums( Day One,The Future and Panic) there was ample material for the crowd to sing along. Founding member and singer Matt Brandyberry gave an outstanding vocal performance and engaged the crowd with fist bumps and high fives. A highlight for me was when Brandyberry explained he has a 13 year old at home. He then found a young fan in the audience and then shared an uplifting Q&A with the child about “what do want to do when you grow up”? He reflected on his own dreams and gave advice of never giving up, it was very inspirational. Speaking of kids, there were many at this show and the band gave recognition to this. Honestly the show in its entirety was high energy and musically phenomenal! Danny Case was a treat to see and he gave it his all to his hometown fans! Lance Dowdle shredded on his guitar and turned it down for a exceptional acoustical performance of “Lost and Alone”. I honestly don’t know how drummer Mat Madiro keeps that playing intensity through the entire show! Stand out songs for me were the smash hits “Panic”, “Scars That I’m Hiding” and “Through it All”. Lastly they gave an epic encore performance of the Evanescence hit “Bring Me To Life”! After the last note was played both Matt and Danny took the time to greet eager fans with fist bumps and handshakes. This band gets it. They are humble and appreciative to all that support them and are not afraid to give back. This hometown show was a memorable and a feel good night!
