A major force in the "horror rock" genre, there shouldn't be anyone who is unfamiliar with the shock factor and the talent of Wednesday 13. Joseph Poole, famously known by his stage name Wednesday 13, has been a prominent figure in the music world since the early '90s and, mainly due to his work alongside the late Joey Jordison with Murderdolls, has been continuing to captivate fans release after release. Wednesday 13's most recent album, Mid Death Crisis, is out now and truly showcases his talent.

The second release for the artist via Napalm Records, the album is full of some of the rawest, heaviest, and most intense metal I've heard in quite some time! Each track is progressively better than the previous and I find myself head banging to each one while picking my jaw off the ground. The ability of the Duke of Spook to create a fun rager of an album that stays true bids an ode to his hard-rock roots is something I think is unmatched. The album has an aura of freshness while paying homage to the heavy metal sounds of the '80s.

"My Funeral" or "When the Devil Commands" are my top 2 of the album. "When the Devil Commands" is such a fun song and the lyrical content makes it that much better of a track. According to Cosa Nostra PR, the song takes a shot at the Satanic Panic of the '80s, writing about what his mother would think if he truly was possessed by the Devil via heavy metal. What an incredible concept for a song! "My Funeral" is definitely that song that needs to be played live at a giant festival! The energy the song exudes demands it as you find yourself having your own rager in the kitchen.

Wednesday 13 is currently finishing up a North American Tour and will be heading over to Europe and the UK this summer! Tickets can be found here.
