Pop-rock underdogs, Honey Revenge, are back and better than ever with their new single, "Medicine". As the album cycle for the band’s debut LP, Retrovision, comes to an end, the duo decided to end this era with a bang with the release of an extended version of their 2023 release that contains "Medicine" and three other previously unreleased tracks.

For those who are unfamiliar with Honey Revenge and their music, they are one of the fresh new faces in the “scene.” The duo is known for their songs Distracted and Airhead, which have amassed tens of millions of streams on various platforms. What makes the group stand apart from other well-established bands in the pop-rock/pop-punk scene is their unique sound that masterfully blends the early-00’s “Disney rock” sound that had been popularized by artists such as Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus) and Jonas Brothers, and the sounds of artists such as The Band Camino, Paramore, and Katy Perry. One can describe Honey Revenge as a “jack of all trades,” as they can mold their sound to fit with any genre/style of music and still make it sound unique.

"Medicine" fits perfectly in the band’s growing discography, as it takes the familiar sounds/lyricism heard in Retrovision and expands truly upon it. On the outside, this track sounds like a fun, happy-go-lucky song, but if you truly stop to take in the lyrics, a darker meaning about the suppression of emotions is revealed. “The concept (of "Medicine") is if I could bottle up how I feel on a really good day and save it for when I’m having a hard time emotionally, I would,” says vocalist Devin Papadol. The instrumental arrangement of "Medicine" manages to turn into a relatively somber song into an upbeat, dance-worthy track, especially with guitarist, Donovan Lloyd’s jazzy riffs.

Honey Revenge is:

·      Devin Papadol (Lead Vocals)

·      Donovan Lloyd (Guitar)

With the release of Retrovision’s extended edition, this will mark the end of the band’s first touring/release cycle. "Medicine" is sure to become a fan favorite over time, but fans will definitely be eager to see and hear what’s next for the band as they write future material. The future is surely bright for Honey Revenge, and I, for one, am ecstatic to see this band grow into a household name.

Retrovision (Extended Edition) is out now via Thriller Records.
