Rock fans went wild Monday night as Palaye Royal’s Death or Glory tour came through Dallas, TX, with supporting acts Diamante and I See Stars showing fans just how dynamic and entertaining their live performances are.
The night started off with a bang when Diamante and her band took the stage. Dressed in a purple, 80s-style jumpsuit and sparkling high-heeled boots, Diamante immediately captured the audience's attention as she belted out the chorus for her opening song, “Ghost Myself.” This was the first time I had seen the rockstar perform, and I was absolutely blown away by both her stage presence and her vocal abilities. As someone who grew up listening to 80s rock music, the setlist felt like a nostalgic blast from the past for me. With the fast, powerful guitar riffs to the soaring vocals, it felt as if I was witnessing a modern-day equivalent to Pat Benatar herself. This thought became even more solidified when Diamante began to cover Benatar’s 1983 hit “Love Is a Battlefield.” The audience went wild for the musician when her final song of the night began to play. Everyone simultaneously threw up the horns and started jumping up and down to the catchy “All For the Glory.” Even though the setlist was only made up of 5 songs, you could tell from the final round of applause that Diamante had just earned herself an entire venue full of fans.
After a captivating performance by Diamante, metalcore band I See Stars soon took the stage. It was obvious that fans had been eagerly awaiting the band's set, because as soon as the lights went down and the first few notes of “Drift” began to play, the whole venue erupted into loud screams and cheers. One group of girls in the front row got particularly excited when frontman Devin Oliver pointed at them as he sang the lyrics to “are we 3even?" The rest of the band's performance was just as energetic as their music. Like Diamante, this was also my first time seeing I See Stars, and again, I absolutely loved what I was hearing. The band’s music perfectly blends heavy metalcore guitars and drums with electronic synths to make one hell of a genre-bending sound experience. As they closed out their set with fan favorite “Anomaly,” I knew that I would be checking out their Spotify page the moment I got back in my car to drive home that night.
Unfortunately, at the time of writing this, the Death or Glory US leg of the tour will already have come to an end after a month and a half-long trek. But fans overseas are still in luck, as I See Stars will be taking their show overseas from November to December this year. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to see this fantastic show!
