Listen. Ice Nine Kills have been a force to be reckoned with ever since the creation of the band over 20 years ago. Some may say the band reached huge success after 2014's The Predator Becomes The Prey. Others may say that it was 2013's The Predator. Regardless, we'd be dumb not to admit that 2018's The Silver Scream launched Ice Nine Kills to a whole new level. Between widespread commercial success as well as the ability to open up for metal-gods Metallica, things have been on the rise for Ice Nine Kills. But, through all this success and new fans, O.G. fans know the band's roots. That's right: Pop-Punk & Ska. Almost as an ode to that sound, the band has released their newest single, a cover of "Walking on Sunshine," with the help of the ska-gods themselves: Reel Big Fish.

Ska is definitely that genre that divides people and the ones that say ska is "overrated" or that they don't like it are entitled to their wrong opinion. Ice Nine Kills and Reel Big Fish effortlessly blend the elements of metalcore and ska as they bombard listeners with a song that leaves you wanting to mosh while grabbing your checkered vans and trombone. Obviously, I'm not alone on that claim because the track has already amassed nearly half a million streams on Spotify since the release.

The absolutely stunning combination of vocals accompanied by guitar solos and brass while incorporating a few impactful metalcore growls is nothing short of amazing. While the original track is a masterpiece, this cover might give it a run for its money. I've been driving around town with the windows down and this track blasting while living my best life. The only thing better than the cover might be the music video. You can tell that Ice Nine Kills put their heart and soul just as they have previous music videos. Over the past few years, it seems as though every music video the band releases has the ability to be nominated for an Oscar and this one is no different.

Between their own co-headliner with In This Moment and several dates supporting Metallica, Ice Nine Kills seems like they'll be busy until the end of 2024.
