Indie alt singer-songwriter, Kirsten Izer, continues to make her presence known with her latest single, “I Want It All”. This synth-heavy ballad is a dive into loneliness and the constant attempt to escape that feeling. Nothing is worse than the feeling of being alone and this song is a little reminder of how everyone experiences bouts of loneliness.
Co-produced by Izer and Randall Belculfine, “I Want It All’ finds a way to connect with its listeners through its production and lyrics. The knocking percussion and the build up into the chorus matches the overall feeling of anxiety that comes along with wanting a better life and trying to speed up the process to get to this imaginary life. As the song builds, it unlocks more fear and leads into the breakdown that happens in the chorus. In a 90-second video, Izer describes how, in the verses, she’s revealing her desire for help, juxtaposed with the chorus, where she goes into “full-blown brat mode” and throws a tantrum. “I Want It All” is a reminder that, sometimes, the only solace is yelling out loud for nobody to hear.
The Los Angeles-based singer dredges up all the emotions that come with aging and the constant comparison to other people. Izer shows off her songwriting talent with the lyrics of the new song. She continues to elicit a strong feeling of loneliness when she’s singing “profoundly alone even when we talk” and “not a body in sight for miles// Pull my hood up hide like a child”. These lyrics tug on that feeling of being in a crowded room, yet feeling so alone at the same time.
Ending the song with the line, “I want it all and I want it now”, Izer recognizes that, even though she’s desperately begging for help, all she can do right now is ask for everything all at once because having to wait for the good things in life feels like torture.
Izer is currently working on her debut album set for release this year. After releasing three singles since 2023, Kirsten Izer isn’t slowing down anytime soon. In fact, she’s just getting started and has so much ahead of her.
