Where to even begin when talking about the musical talent of LANDMVRKS? The nu-metalcore band hailing from Marseille, France has been making a name for themself ever since they formed back in 2014. I've been lucky enough to see them perform live countless times, yet I am already craving another moment to see the band live again. With their fourth album, The Darkest Place I've Ever Been, being released to fans old and new, I am hoping that the rest of the world realizes that this is not a band to sleep on. With an astounding ability to blend emotional lyrics with crushing breakdowns and an unmatched energy, the members of LANDMVRKS are really in a league all their own.
Right off the bat, I can tell the album is going to be a banger from start to finish. Having the title track of the album as the first song for fans to listen to is such a power move and bravo to the band for choosing to do so. "The Darkest Place I've Ever Been" has it all from melodic choruses to a heavy metalcore breakdown to a, I want to say, hardcore-style callout. Sitting here trying to find the right words to describe how the track left my jaw on the floor seems to fail in comparison to the head banging I was doing to "Creature". That opening?! Absolutely incredible! I highly doubt I will be listening to anything else for the next few days as I try and learn French so I can successfully sing a long.
Choosing a favorite from this album release might be close to impossible. If you put a gun to my head and made me choose, I would have to give it to "Deep Inferno" due to the pure ferocity and intensity the track radiates. Just 3 and half minutes of nonstop chaos that is sure to be a fan favorite when played live. It is the type of track that can cause any fan to prepare to throw it all down in the mosh pit. You might take it as an exaggeration, but I truly think that LANDMVRKS is raising the metalcore bar and is setting a new standard that bands should strive to meet to standout in the ever growing heavy music scene.
