Josh Landry, otherwise known as Lø Spirit, and I have chatted twice in the past (see the previous interviews here).
For those of you just hearing this name for the first time, let me fill you in on my favorite vocalist —
Josh started out on TikTok in 2021, covering songs under the name ‘SadSongsOnly.’ His audience began to grow more and more, so he started adding original songs. Josh’s music is emotional, raw, and therapeutic. He is an advocate for mental health awareness and is not shy about adding this element to his songs. I think this is a crucial element to the success that he’s finding – he’s making a real connection to others through being unapologetically himself. He's flawed but real.
🥀 Fast forward to the present: Josh has just released his latest single today, "SAD SONGS." Of the track, he shares, "This was one of the first songs I wrote when I got to LA last year. I moved out west for a lot of reasons, but one big one was to escape rainy Florida weather for my health. With my chronic illness, I get pain and inflammation when a storm rolls through, so naturally California being extremely dry seemed like a good idea. Of course as soon as I moved here California experienced its first hurricane in almost 100 years. 🙄 I was naturally bitter about it, but I made the joke that me and my sad songs brought hurricane season from Florida to LA. 😑 So I wrote this song for some comedic relief with some dear friends of mine @sierradeaton, @theartistheather, and @coupeaustin. I hope you all love it like I do 🫶."
