On the night of October 26th, 2024, Australian born band Chase Atlantic, closed the season out for Red Hat in the bands first ever amphitheater show. The trio, which formed in 2014, proclaims their music as "conjured up dark alternative pop punctuated by rock and R&B." Chase Atlantic came to light at arguably the peak of pop music, but has only continued to morph the scene into something greater as their career progresses.

Opening the night was artist 24kGoldn, who racks up a hefty 13.1 million monthly Spotify listeners, and after seeing him live- you can tell it is well deserved. Golden is a California raised; singer, songwriter and rapper that was first recognized in 2019 for his Billboard Hot 100 single, "Valentino." You may also recognize him from his song "City of Angels" which skyrocketed to fame in early 2020, or his most recent hit "Mood" ft. Ian Dior. Since, he has gone on to release his album, Growing Pains, earlier this year, as well as collaborating with many artists, one of those being Olivia O'Brien.

Performing solo is surely a feat, but Golden makes it look easy. From the moment he rocketed onto the stage, he had an unmistakable energy that couldn't help but make you sing along. Stage presence is one of the most important aspects to a successful concert and unlike most, Golden didn't need a crew to keep up the energy: only his fashionable outfit, microphone, and of course his own dance moves.

For anyone that went into the concert not knowing him, or only his hits, definitely left with a completely different mindset. Golden met fans after the show, signing phones and taking pictures... and yes, he is just as cool as he seems!

Following 24kGoldn's energetic performance, the lights dropped low signaling the arrival of Chase Atlantic. The first member to make their way out was lead singer Mitchel Cane, who is alway recognizable by his fun outfits and braided hair. He was then followed by his brother Clinton Cane, best friend Christian (Kras) Anthony, bassist Pat Wilde, and drummer Jesse Boyle.

To say a Chase Atlantic concert is a "wild ride" would be severely an understatement. The first time I had the opportunity to see them was during their "Cold Nights Tour" (2022). Coming into tonight, I had no clue how they would top it, but they did just that.

One of the lasting impacts I've had from every Chase concert has been the incredible visuals and lighting. It doesn't matter whether they're playing one of their hits, or even unreleased songs, the set up they have is otherworldly. You can't help but stop and commend the time and effort that has gone into the graphics, it truly does make all the difference in putting on a "great" show, vs. an incredible one.

Crowd Shot, Chase Atlantic: by @ashleyymck

The Chase fandom is truly unlike any other, this ties into how I met so many waiting for the show to start. They can spot a fellow fan in the blink of an eye, and are quick to welcome you, even when a barrier separates you. Seeing the bands interaction with the crowd is truly one of my favorite moments. Seconds into walking on, Kras had already grabbed a fans purple beaded sunglasses that read "Chase Atlantic," and acknowledged me singing- even from the photo pit.

It also cannot go without mentioning the caring nature of all the members. When issues arose within the crowd they were quick to press pause and make sure adequate help was given, which makes all the difference when it comes to the safety of the fans.

The coolest thing about seeing Chase live is you never know what to expect. Genre-wise, they are the best of both worlds. From Kras shredding on guitar, to Clinton serenading us with his saxophone skills, there's a little piece for everyone.

Closing the night out with an ode to their early days comes "Friends," one of my personal favorites off of their 2015 EP, Nostalgia. It's at this moment in the show you can truly see who the longtime fans are. The volume of screams the second the first chords struck could no doubt be heard for miles.

Although Mitchel could barely pronounce Raleigh through his accent, I have no doubt that Chase's first Amphitheater show was an unforgettable one. As the years progress and the band evolves, they continue to shock us in the best ways possible. Following the recent releases and even the unreleased songs we were blessed to hear, I truly could not be more excited for the new era and I hope the boys know North Carolina will always be the first to welcome them with open arms.
