Lucky Daye, a Pop/RnB artist with New Orleans roots, made a pit stop in Indianapolis on Wednesday whilst on a North American tour promoting the release of his brand new album Algorithms. Joining him on the entirety of the tour, Fana Hues opened the night with a headliner-worthy showcase of vocal riffs, range, & charisma. Her loyal fans in the crowd sang every word, and her new fans joined her on a stunning rendition of “Tell Him” by Ms. Lauryn Hill. This opening performance left the audience stunned by Fana’s talent and even more eager to see Lucky Daye take the stage.

Lucky began his set with his hit single "HERicane," igniting the crowd's passion. Lovers and friends among the audience sang, danced, and cheered, creating an electrifying atmosphere. His set was accompanied by a drummer, guitarist, and keyboard player, which added to the immersive musical experience. Fog, strobe lights, and captivating graphics transformed the show into a production fit for a superstar. Dressed head to toe in denim with a diamond-studded belt, I’d say Lucky Daye exuded stardom just as much as raw talent. Right when it seemed the crowd had hit peak enthusiasm, the band began to play “Roll Some Mo,” and the room cheered even louder. Taking the lyrics quite literally, a few audience members did roll some more, leaving the room with an herbal aftertaste, and a haze above our heads. The party had truly just begun when Lucky performed another crowd favorite song, “Soft”. This piece flaunts his buttery tone and effortless vocal ability in a playful song about love and vulnerability. I personally think he should play this one twice, just sayin’.

From start to finish, the crowd was enchanted by milky rhythms & upbeat melodies. There was no lack of soul, emotion, or joy within the building. As far as fluidity goes, the balance of Fana & Lucky’s performances was impeccable. Their individual fan bases clearly share an overlap in musical interest, which made the show that much more entertaining. This is a concert that anyone who loves a good time would enjoy, and Indianapolis was so lucky (pun intended) to experience their greatness for the evening. The Algorithm tour concludes on August 28th in Los Angeles, and I would highly suggest going to their shows in the upcoming weeks if they are scheduled to come to a city near you.
