Maggie Rogers is finishing up her first-ever arena tour with sold-out nights at Madison Square Garden and TD Garden. The Don't Forget Me Tour Part 2 played at other iconic venues such as the Kia Forum. "In the Living Room" gave an accurate preview into the energy and emotion that Rogers presents on stage.
See the clock there slowing
The hindsight's been the hardest part
Hurts to see you glowing
"In The Living Room" was originally meant to be a part of her third album, Don't Forget Me, released in April 2024. The song was written in March 2023, with Ian Futchuk, who also co-produced the tune. The song grapples with remembering a past relationship, and how even though it may be over, it remains a part of you. It is a beautiful representation of how relationships do not always last forever, but the memories do.
All of the things we pulled apart
I let it go, it doesn't matter
The seasons changed, it broke my heart
But I will always remember you
When we were dancing in the living room
This song somehow fits perfectly with Don't Forget Me but also feels like a transition into the next part of her musical journey. Maggie Rogers always releases music that is entirely relatable to those who listen to her. It is ever-changing and her "eras" evolve with her, yet the emotional and nostalgic tone of her songs stays the same.
As someone who has been a fan of Maggie Rogers' for so long, it makes me so proud to see her grow as an artist and stay the same person she was when she started this entire journey: someone with an extreme amount of talent who puts her music and fans first. Rogers has made such an effort to make sure this tour's tickets were getting into the hands of those who listen to her music. One thing is for sure- Maggie Rogers is a magical artist and human.
