Singer/songwriter, Natalie Jane brought her "Sick to My Stomach" Tour to the Motorco Music Hall in Durham, North Carolina and performed to a sold out crowd this past weekend. The former American Idol contestant has surged in popularity since 2022 with the release of her major-label debut, "Mentally Cheating". Since then, more releases such as "Intrusive Thoughts" and "June" that showcase Natalie's incredible vocal range have begun to make her a household name in the music industry.
Before it was time for Jane to take the stage for the evening, Los Angeles artist Chandler Leighton opened with an energetic set that immediately had the audience jumping, screaming and singing along. When their hit song, "When You Say My Name" was performed, it was received with an eruption of excitement that made the venue itself feel like it was shaking. This is a testament of the popularity that Chandler has been gaining and they show no signs of stopping anytime soon, as they were just recently announced as one of the performers for the 2025 Vans Warped Tour!
As the stage began to be reset for Natalie Jane, the excitement and energy could not only be felt in the air throughout the venue, but could easily be seen on the many smiling faces in the crowd. Once the stage lights lowered and Natalie's drummer took his position behind his kit, the unmistakeable first notes of "Sick to My Stomach", the song and EP that provides the namesake for the tour, began to ring out. Motorco was filled with the deafening cheers of the concert-goers as Jane stepped out onto stage belting the first verse of the hit song.
What followed was a masterful, hour long performance that showcased Jane's incredible vocal talent, catchy songwriting and perfect control of the audience. For the duration of her concert, Natalie Jane never lost the crowds attention. When she wasn't entertaining them with one of hit songs, the banter-like interactions kept them laughing and smiling. At one point, Natalie asked who in the crowd was with someone they loved. After picking a couple in the audience to ask their names and tell them she was happy for them, she did a comedic turn around to let them know that the next song, was in fact, not for them (or at least she hoped it wasn't) and launched into the song "Mentally Cheating." ...See what she did there?
At the time of this writing, the "Sick to Your Stomach" Tour has a few more US stops, before it heads to Europe. In this writers opinion, it's only a matter of time before Natalie Jane is no longer performing 400-capacity music halls and we begin to see her performing in amphitheaters and larger. But whatever the size of venue she is performing in, this is an artist that needs to be at the top of your list to see live!
