Peach Pit Comes to the Orange Peel

The Canadian indie pop band made a stop in Asheville, NC at the Orange Peel this past Tuesday.

Peach Pit, an indie pop band hailing from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, made a stop on their From 2 to 3 Tour in Asheville, NC. The band consists of singer/guitarist Neil Smith, guitarist Christopher Vanderkooy, bassist Peter Wilton, and drummer Mikey Pascuzzi.

Opening for the band on the North American leg of their tour is Haley Blais (she/they). The singer/songwriter is also from Vancouver and was a perfect opener for Peach Pit. Her and her band played her hits “Small Foreign Faction” and “Seventeen,” along with new release “Coolest fucking bitch in town.” My personal favorite from her set was her mashup cover of “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None The Richer and “Silk Chiffon” by MUNA and Phoebe Bridgers.

After a brief intermission, Peach Pit rushed on stage, bringing so much energy with them. They performed a 23 song setlist, including a four song encore to a packed room. The Orange Peel made for the best venue for the band. Their energy translated into every audience member throughout the entire building, making it a show to remember. People sang the words to familiar favorites such as, “Alrighty Aphrodite,” “Black Licorice,” “Techno Show,” and so many more. Everyone seemed to be having the time of their lives, just as I was.
