Risen from the ashes of bands of the FL metal scene's past, Phantom Limbs has quickly made a name for themselves. Their latest single, "Bargain," has captured the hearts of YouTube and TikTok quickly while also producing a strong showing on Spotify in its first month since release. To capitalize on this momentum, on March 3rd, they announced their debut tour, from June 11th to June 21st, featuring southern metalcore heavyweights Burn Absolute and newcomers Sleeptalker. Phantom Limbs will embark on the tour by themselves for the first four dates before Burn Absolute joins them in Fort Worth and Sleeptalker in Nashville.

Sleeptalker, like Phantom Limbs, is a newer artist, and since their debut, they have taken the metalcore scene by storm. Their single "Illuminate(d)", featuring Myke Terry of Volumes, was released to wide acclaim, racking up nearly 75K streams in five months. Recently, they joined their tour support counterparts Burn Absolute on the 'In The Red' tour in January as part of their first tour experience. With a sound that gives hints of Archers and Dreamwake, you do not want to miss their performances in June.

Debuting with their Cartharis EP in 2023, Burn Absolute has been a band built by both resilience and change. After a variety of lineup changes since their debut, their lineup features founding members Robby Anttila and Anthony Marrujo on vocals and drums, respectively. Meanwhile, recent additions Christian Borland (bass guitar, clean vocals) and Zach Stambuck (lead guitar) round out the rhythm section. After being hamstrung with lineup uncertainty, Burn Absolute finds themselves with a new focus and energy following their first headlining tour in January.

Their latest singles "Hourglass" and "Expire" are the first to feature Borland and Stambuck in their respective roles, and they showcase a new modern twist to the Burn Absolute sound. Borland's clean vocals, reminiscent of Sam Carter of Architects, complement Anttila's brutal gutturals. This new team of songwriters has quite a bit up their sleeves, hoping to release their next EP over the Summer. With a new setlist featuring a mix of new songs, unreleased tracks, and an old favorite, Burn Absolute is ready to take the metalcore world by storm.

Phantom Limbs' songwriting can only be described as reflective. Reflective on their past and lessons learned, looking to give hope to their listeners. Their social media features messages and stories about taking life by the horns and having no back-up plan. They recruited friends and members of the FL scene to collaborate in their guitarist/clean vocalist/producer Chris Acosta's studio to record gang vocals for their latest single, "Bargain," a showcase of their local scene coming together for a common goal.

I was present at Phantom Limbs' second-ever live performance in Georgia, and while they are a new band, their stage presence is something to behold. Vocalist Teeco Alfonso sounds just as good live as he does on the recording, while you never know where Acosta will venture while holding his guitar. This band takes great pride in their live performances, making each show a unique experience. You do not want to miss this tour.
