One of the best things about the Dallas-Fort Worth area is how there is an abundance of shows and festivals. If you're in need of something to do around October 14th & 15th, I'd highly recommend stopping by Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios in Denton, TX for 2 days of nonstop fun at Plus Fest! You know you're in for a weekend of fun with food trucks, art, snacks, merch, and much more! You'd be insane not to go if you ask me.
With a plethora of bands to watch, Music Scene Media has you covered! Some bands to keep an eye out for are Dwellings, saturdays at your place, TRSH, Sawce, Snooze, & Lilac Kings!
Dwellings has such a "feel good" vibe & make you just want to let it all get loose. With sounds reminiscent of indie & Midwest emo, you'll be sure to keep the band on repeat. Not many bands make you wanna throw down in the pit while sipping on a cold beer & screaming until your eyes fill with tears.
Speaking of Midwest emo & sad boy vibes, saturdays at your place is a must listen! As described on the band's Spotify bio:
Their sound consists of both heavy and twinkly guitar parts, group vocals and heart of sleeve lyrics.
I couldn't agree more. I could definitely see the band getting on a tour with bands like Tiny Moving Parts, Mom Jeans, Just Friends, and many others. If you can get a chance to see the band during Plus Fest, don't miss out! I bet you'll regret it!
You might be saying, "Wow, with so many emo feel bands to choose from, I surely can't make a decision." Well, here is another one for you to decide on: TRSH. Unlike the band name states, the band is not trash. But, their words sure do make you feel like that. But … in the best way possible? Does that make sense? No? Oh, well. I'm going to cry anyway! Just listen to the band and tell me I'm wrong. You can't.
Okay. Okay. Maybe you're a fan of the Midwest emo & indie vibes, but the lyrics aren't really for you. Maybe you're more on the Animals As Leaders side and want to rage to some instrumental emo. Well, I guess Plus Fest knew that because they have the perfect solution: Sawce. Also, word on the street is that this will be the band's first time in Texas. You know that pit is going to treat with that Texas hospitality.
The happy heavy math-rock band from Chicago, Snooze, will also be at the fest in case you wanted to hear some music that doesn't make you know how to feel. Should I feel happy? Sad? Do I want to rage or do I just need a hug? Or is it all of the above? The band has a sound that screams ambience and I just want to blast it over speakers for all to hear. It wouldn't surprise me if the band gets a huge fanbase in Texas after the fest because they're just that good!
Lilac Kings is another "must watch" band if you're attending the fest. They seem to combine several different genres, but still make it all their own. Somehow they're indie, but also post hardcore, but also math-rock. However you want to categorize the band, they absolutely slap. And being right to the north of Texas (they're from Tulsa), I'm surprised they aren't bigger here in the DFW area. Obviously, that's going to change after Plus Fest.
