Back in May of this year, metalcore legends Saving Vice released their sophomore album, Good Days, Dead Eyes, and the band has continued to rise in popularity. With crushing singles like "Haec Est Ars Moriendi", "Blood or Wine?", & "The Cabal", this album has been full of bangers from start to finish.
Saving Vice hails from Vermont and has been making waves in the music scene since its inception back in 2017. The band effortlessly blends early elements of the metalcore genre with fresh new concepts and ideas that leave them a step above the rest. With such a large amount of music readily available to fans and music listeners, it is sometimes difficult for a band to release something to positive reviews. Good Days, Dead Eyes is truly a testament to that claim with the ability to get any type of metalcore fan moving. It seems next to impossible to not talk about this album and how great it is. When speaking about the album, vocalist Tyler Small has this to say:
There's no short way to really dive into what it took to get us here. If you had told me this album would even be out a year back I wouldn't have believed you. We've had so many miracles followed by being struck by lighting multiple times. This album is the fruition of our suffering, determination and labor. It's also the culmination of a concept trilogy that started with “Colder Than Dark” our first EP.
The band also prides itself on that DIY aspect as the entire album was produced, mixed, and mastered by guitarist Robbie Litchfield. When speaking about the process and the album release, Litchfield has this to say:
We’ve worked tirelessly at this album for years, delaying it numerous times due to all the different sorts of setbacks our band has experienced. But we couldn’t be any more proud of this album and the twelve songs that comprise it, all different stories of things we’ve been through individually or collectively as a band. Producing, mixing and mastering this was incredibly challenging to say the least, but I can honestly say that I put everything I possibly had into this album to make it sound as good as it possibly can and I’m looking very forward to the future of SV material.
While the entire album is full of bangers, one of my favorite tracks has to be "Tomorrow's Too Late". Something about it just scratches and itch I never knew I had. From the breakdowns to the vocals and lyrics to the backing elements, the song just needs to be listened to at least 3 or 4 times over before moving on.
Saving Vice is heading on tour this Fall in support of Fight From Within and it is sure to be one of the best tours of the year.
