Shamans Harvest Take Their “Rebelator” Tour 2022 To Rochester, NY

I arrived at the Montage Music Hall to find a small line waiting, before the doors opened. It was really cool to see several band members talking to fans in line as we waited. This would be tour stop number two, for Shamans Harvest, Crobot and Any Given Sin, all signed by Mascot Records. Having seen Any Given Sin perform before, I was really looking forward to seeing them perform again, as well as watching the other bands play. Shortly after the doors opened, a local band named Aggressive Betty got the show started.

Any Given Sin

The Maryland based quartet, Any Given Sin, took the stage next, playing a seven song set. They played all their hits, including,“Dynamite”, “Another Life” and “Insidious”. This is a fun band to watch live and they had a fairly large fan base present at this show. Singer, Vic Ritchie’s vocals were excellent. The band was solid and sounded great. Closing out the set, was their 2021 single, “The Way I Say Goodbye”, a favorite of mine!

Any Given Sin are; Vic Ritchie – vocals, Chase Groher – guitar (subbing for Michael Conners for first two shows), Rich Stevenson – bass, Mike Showalter – drums

Set list; Insidious, Another Life, Revolt, Dynamite, Low and Behold, Still Sinking, The Way I Say Goodbye

Crobot

After a short intermission, Crobot hit the stage hard and fast. The four piece band from Pottsville, Pa came ready to rock! The band performed a high energy twelve song set, including eight songs from the newly released (06/03/2022) album Feel This. Singer, Brandon Yeagley was a phenomenal showman with seemingly unstoppable energy and lots of crowd interaction. Throughout the show, he effortlessly swung the mic stand around as if it were his dance partner. He even sang while sitting on guitarist Chris Bishop’s shoulders! For only having a guitar, bass and drums, the band seemed to have a much larger sound. Some notable song picks from the set were, “Gasoline”, “Set You Free”, “Golden” and “Low Life”. Crobot definitely got the crowd pumped for the headliner. Good Stuff!

Crobot are; Brandon Yeagley – vocals, Chris Bishop – guitar, Tim Peugh – bass, Dan Ryan – drums

Set list; Electrified, Dizzy, Gasoline, Livin On The Streets, Set You Free, Mountain, Better Times, Holy Ghost, Kiss It Goodbye, Golden, Low Life, Without Wings

Shamans Harvest

Finally, taking the stage was Jefferson City, Missouri ‘s, Shamans Harvest, on tour in support of their newly released (03/11/2022) album Rebelator. Playing a thirteen song set, the five musicians opened the show with “Bird Dog” and “Voices” both singles from the new album. Having never seen them perform in person, I was impressed by the full, rich, sometimes haunting sound in a live performance. Singer, Nathan Hunt’s vocals were fantastic, having a great range and technique. At times, he used two microphones, individually, during a song. When background vocals accompanied Hunt, it was rich like butter, especially in the last song “Mama”. The dual guitars of Josh Hamler and Derrick Ship were a treat to the ears. Trading off punchy solos and mellow, bluesy rhythms they are a great compliment to each other. Bass player, Cord Bishop, seemed to be having a great time, smiling frequently, while laying down some smooth bass lines. Lastly, drummer, Adam Zemanek, was having some fun of his own with twirling drum sticks, all the while laying down the beat. This show had a flow to it, hard rocking to mellow songs, like waves in the ocean. It’s hard to pick favorite songs from this show, but I will go with “Voices”, “Blues Jam/Soul Crusher”, “Tusk and Bone” and “Mama/Dragonfly”. This was a great show and I found myself singing songs from all three bands on my way home!
