Over the weekend, Music Scene Media acquired exclusive access to cover 90s rock sensation and Grammy-nominated band, Everclear at the Windjammer. Friday night, on the South Carolina coast, the band entertained a sold-out crowd with nostalgic hit after hit! I vividly remember the first few times I heard that famous introductory riff on the “Santa Monica” track. It propelled me into the world of grunge, alternative rock, and pop punk early in my youth, and I never looked back! Hearing it again brought back many memories of skatepark sessions and middle school drama—if only we could go back!

With only one original member: Art Alexakis (vocals, guitar), the band is made up of Davey French (guitar), Freddy Herrera (bass), and Brian Nolan (drums). The talented founder of Everclear, Art Alexakis still shreds and wails like he did 30 years ago, and it is both wistful and revitalizing. The band was asked to join Sister Hazel, Rotoglow, and Easton Corbin for a weekend of music, food, community, and sunshine on the waterfront! The Hang on Hazelnut Isle is going strong and celebrating 18 years with plans to return next summer—like anyone needed another excuse to visit Charleston!

With a tour that continues into 2025, Everclear will play with Marcy Playground and Jimmie’s Chicken Shack. As of 2019, Art Alexakis was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) and donates a dollar from every ticket sale to fund research through the National MS Society. So, I'll state the obvious: SUPPORT LIVE MUSIC! This band still has "it.”

The guys were joined by the now-local opener, Rotoglow at the beachfront venue, barefoot with cold drinks in hand. Rotoglow started touring the East Coast out of Fairfax, Virginia, back in 2000. They have played Warped Tour and supported big-name acts like Outkast, Lit, and Cracker to name a few! Conrado Bokoles, John Kenney, Andrew Hellier, and Dave Cannon rocked, and the crowd was stoked when they played their latest single, “Monster and the Defender”. These guys are back in full swing and will be posting about upcoming shows on their socials (linked below).
