The Band CAMINO returned to Phoenix, AZ on Saturday, July 13, bringing their Taking Shape Tour to a sold-out crowd with support from Knox. The alt-rock band, currently based out of Nashville, is touring in promotion of their new EP, Bruises, which was released on May 17, 2024.
Fans braved the Arizona heat and turned up early in support of opening act Knox. This performance marks the Nashville-based artist’s third show in the Valley of the Sun in the last 9 months, with his most recent tour selling out Valley Bar only hours after going on sale. Before Knox took the stage, the atmosphere was already buzzing with anticipation. The entire crowd sang along to a pre-show playlist, creating an immaculate vibe that set the tone for the night. Tracks like "Unwritten" and "Life is a Highway" had the audience singing at the top of their lungs even before Knox appeared.
Knox opened his set with “Love Letter” and had the audience engaged from the start. Knox's stage presence was a captivating blend of confidence, charisma, and vibrant energy. From the moment he stepped on stage, he had the crowd fully engaged. It was clear that the crowd was no stranger to his work as audience members could be heard loudly singing along to every word of the songs. The set included songs from Knox’s most recent album I’m So Good At Being Alone?, as well as from his first album How To Lose A Girl in 7 Songs, both of which were released last year. The audience was also treated to his new single “Treadmill” which was released last month. Knox closed the set with his hit song “Not The 1975,” which had the whole crowd dancing and perfectly set the stage for the highly anticipated headline performance.

The lights dimmed and “Boys of Summer” played as The Band CAMINO took the stage. The band kicked off their set with “Nostalgia”, a track off of their new EP Bruises before launching into a set filled with fan favorites. Fans danced, bopped their heads, and sang along as The Band CAMINO captivated the audience with their catchy melodies and energetic presence. Midway through the set, the band brought out a piano and introduced the fan request acoustic section of the evening. Singers Jeffrey Jordan and Spencer Stewart traded off of piano while playing that evening’s requests: “Berenstein”, “Know Me”, and “Fool of Myself”. The crowd was impressed as the band was able to work through these unrehearsed songs so effortlessly in front of a live audience. The band closed out that section of the set by performing “The Black and White” which they also noted had not been rehearsed, stating “Just let the boys play!”. The hits continued through the second half of the set. The band expressed their gratitude to the fans, noting that they’ve “never gone viral” and continue to schedule tours hoping that people will show up, only to be surprised that they sell out show after show. During the band’s encore, a fan had the unforgettable opportunity to join on stage and play the cowbell during “I Think I Like You,” showcasing yet another example of their inclusive approach to engaging with fans throughout their show. “Boys of Summer” played once more as the band exited the stage following an electric performance of “Daphne Blue”. The fans left the venue buzzing with excitement and no doubt are eagerly awaiting the next time the band returns to the Valley.
