The Driver Era is a power duo consisting of brothers Ross and Rocky Lynch. The music industry veterans are closing out a busy year with one final single under their belt. Their newest single "Touch" is the perfect combination of sultry, electronic, and dance-worthy.
Upon its release, Ross described the single on an Instagram post, saying you need to "play this loud in your car for full effect."
It's safe to say that The Driver Era has solidified their spot as a strong force in the alt-pop scene. "Touch," a flirty, live-in-the-moment style tune, appears to follow the duo's previously released singles in a chronological timeline surrounding the lifespan of a relationship. The single follows the October release of "Don't Walk Away," about a whirlwind romance, as well as February's single, "Get Off My Phone," about a breakup.
At first listen, "Touch" combines a dark, electronic tone with the bass to create a moody setting that may give the listener the wrong idea about the subject. It quickly turns once the lyrics begin, creating the sense that the listener has been transported to a nightclub, full of dancing and flirting. The use of first-person in the lyrics adds to the atmosphere, causing the listener to feel as if the artist is flirting directly with you at that moment. The pace of the song seems to speed up to match the urgency and repetition in the lyrics,
"There's no time to waste."
Along with the single's release, the duo released a lyric video to accompany it. The lyric video is simple in its beauty, displaying black and white images that evoke a sensuality to match the song as it plays.
On January 18th, The Driver Era will be kicking off the new year strong with their worldwide tour, The Driver Era: Obsession Tour.
