Hi! Welcome to The Drop; your premier destination for listening to a 22-year-old girl yap about her favorite new music releases every week. Essentially, I cannot decide which music genre is my favorite, so I'll be covering any new tracks I hyper-fixate on (get ready for A LOT of hip-hop). Since it took me an embarrassingly long time to come up with a name for this segment, I'll be covering all my favorite releases from all of December. We have plenty of hits from this month to send you into the new year. Buckle up, and let's get into it.

Glorilla & Kehlani - "Xmas Time"

Glorilla and Kehlani made some serious waves this month with this unexpected Christmas-themed collab. These artists both have completely different vibes, so it is SO exciting to see these lovely ladies mesh their sounds together. With Kehlani's smooth soft vocals and Glorilla coming in with her hard-hitting Memphis-style flow on an insane beat switch, this is a Christmas bop I'll be playing every year for the rest of my life.

Dro Kenji - "AMSTERDAM"

Dro Kenji is back and better than ever. Switching up from his well-known emo-trap sound, Kenji has returned with this confident and melodic dark-trap masterpiece. Everything about this track, from the beat to his vocals, has me wanting to sprint to the nearest mosh-pit and turn up. All I hear when I listen to this track is confidence, and I am excited to see what Kenji's new upcoming album will entail. Side note, I got to see this song performed live before it even came out. That is my biggest flex.

Ice Spice - "Hannah Montana (with NLE Choppa & DaBaby)"

Ice Spice truly knows how to make a hit song, and she has proven so with this jersey-drill track off her new project "Y2K!: I'm Just A Girl (Deluxe)." Ice Spice comes in heavy with a nonchalant and heavy flow that makes me want to get sturdy until my knees break. NLE Choppa and DaBaby were perfect recruits for this track, adding so much energy and iconic flows. I'm really hoping to hear this song in the club soon.

Juice Wrld - "Oxycodone"

Back with his final posthumous album "The Party Never Ends", Juice Wrld's team has given us this heartbreaking track to remind us that legends never die. This song is a real testament to the struggles Juice Wrld faced during his time here with us. Even though Juice has been gone for 5 years now, his music continues to serve as a safe space for millions of fans around the world facing the same struggles. The emotion and vulnerability Juice poured into his music is something that can never be replicated, and it continues to have a lasting impact on me with every new release.

SZA - "30 For 30 (with Kendrick Lamar)"

Here with a surprise deluxe version of her hit album "SOS," SZA and Kendrick Lamar cement themselves as one of the most iconic music duos of their time. Something about SZA and Kendrick's voices complements each other so well. I can already see this smooth R&B hip-hop track winning a few Grammys. Also, we need to give SZA more credit for her rapping abilities. She gave Kendrick a run for his money here.

Thanks for your time! Catch me back here every Sunday for more yap sessions and new music. See you in 2025!
