The Funeral Portrait does it again with their latest anticipated release, "Holy Water," featuring Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch. The song was previously featured on their second album, Greetings From Suffocate City, which was released on September 13, 2024. It has also been a long-time favorite since 2019, when it made its memorable debut. The track illustrates how the band continues to solidify their presence in the music scene and as artists. Known for their deeply expressive storytelling lyrics and captivating stage presence, the band brings a fresh drive of post-hardcore and alternative rock to new levels.

"Holy Water" has always been such a fierce, energetic song to begin with. Now, with their latest collaboration, the song delivers a nice balance of haunting melodies and an explosive chorus that adds that extra layer of unfiltered intensity that we all love from the guys. The lyrics address themes of redemption, struggle, and personal growth. Lead vocalist Lee Jennings merges heartfelt vulnerability and raw power; his delivery of being able to shift different ranges from the verse to the chorus each time helps every line feel deeply personal to the listener.

We already adored the original version, but their fresh take on the popular track is something that can't be ignored. Ivan Moody adds that extra edge, which complements the band's style so well. With his signature gritty power, during the second verse and also blending vocals with Lee, this marks another dynamic collaboration to add to their growing catalog of music. Also, I can't forget to mention that iconic chuckle right before the last chorus is played- perfect, in my opinion!

I also can't forget the hard-hitting instrumentation throughout. The Funeral Portrait, like always, masterfully balances powerful guitar riffs with commanding drums and a pulsating bassline that brings together a unique sound for this ever-evolving song. The contrast between atmospheric passages and crushing riffs keeps the whole energy of the song immersive and spontaneous. Band members include Cody Weissinger–lead guitar and backing vocals; Calab Freihaut–rhythm guitar, auxiliary, and backing vocals; Robert Weston–bass; and Homer Umbanhower–drums, percussion.

As the guys continue to build momentum, fans have even more to look forward to with the band's recent announcement of "Greetings From Suffocate City (From Beyond The Abyss: Deluxe Edition)," releasing on June 13th. Available for pre-order and can be pre-saved now here. Their hard work has truly paid off, and I can't wait to see them grow as artists in the music scene. If you're not already a listener of The Funeral Portrait, give them a listen, and I'm sure there will be a song that you can call a new favorite!
