Dang. Get ready to discover your new favorite metalcore band. Hailing from North Carolina, In Memory are here and ready to take the music scene by storm. Back in March of this year, the band released their single "Lost" off their upcoming EP, This Place is Real, set to release on May 23rd. Before I dive into this release, let me start by saying how it is such a unique track in the sea of metalcore music with a plethora of reasons that makes it stand out. If you're sleeping on this band, get ready to wake up!

The track opens with an electronic/hip-hop style beat as an incredible breakdown graces your eardrums and leaves you bouncing to the beat and banging your head. Right away the lyrics punch you in the gut and leave you with tears streaming down your face. I mean you can't look at me and say hearing "Which way, do I turn? / When everything's so left then right? / Show me a sign / And tell me everything is alright" doesn't leave you with an overwhelming feeling of sadness. Yet through that sadness, there seems to be a feeling of relief as you finally feel seen through the struggles and problems you've been dealing with. Vocalist Justin Jynx states how:
“I really harp on mental health and mental health awareness. We try to incorporate storytelling, singles like “Lost” leads into “Alone” where it follows a guy dealing with bipolar disorder and what it’s like to navigate that. When you're dealing with the stress of everyday life, as well as dealing with an overbearing mental illness that constantly leaves you in a fog, wondering what's going to happen next.”
So, you mean to tell me that we have incredible metalcore music with a sincere message? Sign me all the way up!

"Lost" truly has the ability to become one of the top metalcore tracks of the year. The song effortlessly balances the heaviness of the drop tuning and chugs with such comforting melodies and choruses that are accompanied by some harsh and inspiring vocals. It may seem like the entire song is a juxtaposition of highs and lows, but I think that is something that will draw old and new fans to the song and to the band. If you find yourself wanting a new band to obsess over, do yourself a favor and give In Memory that attention. You surely won't regret it.
