The highly anticipated New York Summer festival, The Governors Ball (GovBall), is heading back to Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens on the weekend of June 6, kicking off not only summer but New York’s official Music Month. Following 2024’s year of GovBall takeover on social media, need I remind you of Chappell Roan’s iconic Lady Liberty look, this year had some big shoes to fill. Featuring an eclectic range of musicians, 2025 offers an intriguing set of headliners - Tyler, the Creator, Benson Boone, Olivia Rodrigo, Feid, Hozier, and Glass Animals. Some of those undercards who are cause for chatter are JPEGMAFIA, MARINA, Mannequin Pussy, Tyla, and Berlioz with many more exciting artists populating the list.
Though some levels of tickets have sold out, a range of tiers and 2-and-1-day passes remain available for the taking. With such a varied pool of performers, and a lot of debate online over which day is the strongest depending on the genres you spend the most time in, those final few tickets may begin dwindling soon. Which day of the fest looks the strongest to you? I’m most looking forward to Saturday with an initial run of The Lemon Twigs, The Garden, Car Seat Headrest, MARINA, Wallows, Conan Grey, and Olivia Rodrigo.
In addition to the music that draws festival goers in, GovBall is known for its larger-than-life photo opportunities that scatter the park that hosted decades of New York’s World’s Fairs. A massive Lady Liberty bust sits in the park watching performers through her shades, holding up her tattooed arms, and disposable cameras hang under trees for passersby to snap memories in, the fest always does a great job of keeping you exploring. Keep an eye on their socials as specific details will roll out more and more frequently as we barrel through April and May toward the summer months.
Experience some of New York’s finest and favorite dining spots as they infuse the park with the many tastes and smells from around the melting pot. Select Queens Night Market vendors will also set up shop for perusal.
End of the day, what goes better than a New York summer night, and a bunch of great live music? GovBall is a great time every time and a guaranteed memory for you and yours. Catch us there.
